Welcome to Harukaze!
Harukaze is a little shrine inside KonekoTachi, devoted to my thoughts, my activities... I'll write anything that comes on my mind, just so that you can realize how crazy I am. :)

We've been having high temperatures for a while here, and when I work at the bookstore, it goes to extremes: we're part of a mall which was built in unconvenient materials, if you see what I mean, the kind that gathers any degree and multiplicates it that ten. So this year, in order not to have too many complaints from customers (and workers), the center decided to use an anti-ecological way of cooling the air: water is being spread on the roof all day long. And we all think it's completely absurd, it's a shame, and it's a huge spoil of water. But now I think they won't do it again. Why? Because yesterday, many dozens of books were severely damaged. There was a crack in the roof. A small one, but large enough to ruin all books displayed on 2 tables and on bookshelves...

I'm not sure we're the 9th day of this month, I'll check later coz I don't have a calandar at hand. It's already February. It's already 2005. We're going on our way to the future. I mean, what is next? Discoveries, unprecedented events, new viruses, new antidotes, things are going to be easier in some way and harder in another. But what I want to know is, will the world someday be like what we've been imaginating it until now? Will future be what we expect it to be, like some of us described it in novels. Were Asimov or Kim Stanley Robinson right? And now you know what I think? That I read too much Science Fiction.

It's been a while since I last wrote something here, but I wasn't in the mood for it. Thus there aren't many entries. I'm really not of the type to keep a diary or something like that. Not that I don't live an interesting life, but I usually can't write about what happens. Maybe trying to do it here is meaningless, but I want to give it a try anyway.
Christmas is coming fast, and I'm very busy at the bookstore. It's growing overcrowded now, and customers are nervous because of it. People never like to see huge queues at the cashdesk, do they? Neither do I anyway... This growth of activity at work has consequences on my activities at home: I mostly spend my time reading, in order to be efficient. I read at least two books a week, only novels since I'm now attached to the Literature department. A few good books (I'll spare you the titles, they're in french). Unfortunately I didn't have much time to spend on the web...

I just wrote many lines in this diary, but because it took a few minutes, my session expired when I clicked on the save changes button and I lost everything. I am not going to write it again, I'm quite angry right now because of it. I hate wasting my work, especially this way.

Sunday. Went to Japan Expo. I left home at 11:15am, took the train at 11:34, and met a girl who was also going to the anime convention, she was cosplaying Sakura (from Card Captor Sakura). We sat and talked a lot; she was happy to meet me so I could help her carry her luggage ^^; We reached Paris a little after 12:00, we came out the train and headed to the Dfense, where Sakura-chan met internet friends. From there we could see the line of people waiting to enter the lower ground floor where it was supposed to begin. I had heard it was over-crowded, but the convention had already started one hour and a half ago, so I thought I wouldn't have to wait much. Then when we finally walked to join the line, there was no one outside. We went down the stairs, still no one. We entered the huge room arranged especially for the line, and only about 40 persons were waiting, so let's say it took me about 15 minutes to enter the main room. *grin* My cousin was already inside, and he had waited 2 hours and a half this morning.
Still I was really disappointed: because of the crowd and since I came only the last day, there was nothing much left interesting to buy (well at least for me). I was looking for manga and artbooks of my favorite series in Japanese, but found nothing worth, except a realistic Totoro moneybox and two Hikaru no Go doujinshi (waiiii!). I couldn't find my cousin and his friends anywhere, we finally met at about 4:30pm, and came back home when the convention was due to close at 6:00pm. At least the guys had bought many manga and DVDs and posters.
Monday Back to work after saying goodbye to Julien (my cousin) and Samuel and Benjamin (his friends). Usual workday, at the end of which I bought 5 manga (in French) and 3 european comics (small editions at 2 euros) because of the frustration of the day before (I hadn't spent enough money you see). I bought Chonchu 2, I'll 2, Black Jack ni Yoroshiku 1, Gumnn Last Order 2, Samurai Deeper Kyo 1, Monster Allergy 1, Luuna 1 and Le Collge invisible 1. Along with two novels: La Rue Cases-Ngres (by Joseph Zobel) and Des fleurs pour Algernon (Flowers for Algernon, by Daniel Keyes). Back home at 9:00pm, my dad was back from Paris, they made the great tour to my cousin and co, and went to Junku to get the Loveless 4 special edition I had reseved, as well as Hot Gimmick 5 and Gekka no Kimi 3. I've got so much to read now...
Tuesday Day off. Started reading Flowers for Algernon, the story of a retarded adult who is used as a guinea-pig for an operation to make him become intelligent. The novel is made of the hero's reports so you can see his evolution directly from the inside: his spelling and way of thinking completely change. This novel is amazing, really! I also read Chonchu 2 and Gumnn LO 2. Gotta read the following volumes.

Thrusday, my cousin came home with two friends. I hadn't seen him since 3 maybe 4 years, he is now 17 and much taller than me (damn I feel small lol). They all live in the south east of France, they're used to sunny weather, think that Paris is part of the always cloudy cities, and of course it's raining right now so that they keep their belief. And why did my cousin come to the north of France with friends? To go to Japan Expo.
They love manga, and Japan Expo is the manga and anime convention to see in this country. It's huge, you can find many goddies and stuff sometimes at low prices, there are concerts, expositions, cosplay... It lasts three days, I've been working the first two, and finally I'll be able to go too today. And I'm happy. I'll spend all my money in one single day! ;) I've been to Japan Expo tree years already, it'll be my fourth today. So you'll understand that I now have to get prepared and be ready to go...

Two days ago was the last day I officially attended school. Actually there's also a revision week in late September, just before the final exams, but it doesn't really count. Finally I'm reaching the end of my studies, with 5 years as a student in University, and 2 as an apprentice (alternatively three weeks in a bookstore, one week at school). Feels good.
On the same day I finished reading No Second Chance by Harlan Coben. I had already read Tell No One last year when it came out in paperback in France, and I also have the French version of Deal Breaker, but I'll wait a little before reading it, to give me the time to discover other authors. Still I'll definitely have to read more of him. No Second Chance is about a couple being shot down in their house. Their baby girl is abducted. The man miraculously survives and is of course involved in a ransom to get back his daughter... At first I thought the action was starting slowly, but then it becomes thrilling.
So since I achieved No Second Chance two days ago, I started a new book yesterday. It's also a detective novel by a French author (I guess because I can't find any note about a translation): it's called Sur le dos, un papillon by Corinne Naa. The writing style is unusual for this type of novel, but I've only read a few pages for now, I can't say much except that it begins with a man who loved his mother too much and wasn't loved by other women, which ended on frustration and murder.I had also started reading Silent Night by Mary higgins Clark, but... well... let's say I just don't like it. I had enjoyed her book Remember though.
I'll have to buy new books since the Corinne Naa is tha last one I have to read left... I'd like to try African and Indian authors.
